Downtown Ambassadors are on the streets seven days a week to ensure that Downtown Kalamazoo is a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that appeals to visitors, residents, employees, and investors. The program is built upon a national best practice employed in successful downtowns and business districts across the county. They help with things like:
- Providing directions and information to visitors
- Removing trash and debris
- Taking care of downtown maintenance
- Grafitti removal
- Power washing
- Weeding
- Leaf removal
- Snow removal from crosswalk aprons
- Supporting downtown businesses
- Reporting issues to Public Safety
- Connecting people with social services
