With Love, from Kalamazoo to Palestine: A Festival of Celebration and Solidarity (Second Annual)
- This event has passed.
The culture of Palestine will be featured in a family-friendly festival in Bronson Park on Saturday, July 16. The Kalamazoo community will LOVE the music, dance, food, and art on display!
There will be a traditional dance performance by two dynamic troupes. We will have both the Mawtini Dance Troupe, and the Thowra Dabke Dance Troupe, from Dearborn, Michigan. You will have a chance to join in, and Thowra will teach you how to dabke with them!
There will be a selection of Middle Eastern music provided by Fuad Foty from Washington, D.C.
Kids will love the activities at the children’s table. Don’t miss the face painting area!
There will be delicious food available from several local Middle Eastern restaurants. There will be vendor tables with art, jewelry, and henna artists.
Guest speakers will tell personal stories of their family ties to Palestine, and others will speak of why solidarity with Palestine is critically needed now more than ever. There will be an opportunity to donate to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF).
Attendees are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will move to the Kalamazoo Nonprofit Advocacy Coalition facility (the former First Baptist Church on 315 W. Michigan Ave., a 2-minute walk from Bronson Park).
