ARTbreak: Kristin Casaletto and Kae Pershon
- This event has passed.
Kristin Casaletto’s art centers on socio-political challenges of 21st century life in a superpower nation, addressing power imbalances (racial, economic, gender) or perilous trends (nationalism, complacency) as she perceives them from within a working-class,
mixed-race family. The work suggests multiple meanings and alludes to the cumulative effects of history on the shape of society today. She’ll discuss her work’s exploration of the complex relationships between corruption and redemption, justice and injustice.
Katie (Kae) Pershon is a photographer, artist, and curator based in Grand Rapids, MI. Over her artistic career, Kae has worked in a variety of mediums, but is consistently drawn to digital media. Her work often captures the abstract and sublime, as she is fascinated with the way a combination of mundane objects can become beautiful. In her talk, she will explore how ADHD and ASD have forced her to navigate a world that was not built for those who are neurodivergent.
