Downtown Kalamazoo kicks off Restaurant Week despite dining changes amid COVID-19

Typically hosted during the month of July, the downtown Kalamazoo Summer Restaurant Week kicked off in September during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers invited guests to try featured menu offerings from downtown eateries.
Despite dining challenges presented by the pandemic, Meghan Behymer, communications manager for the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership, said the turnout for 2020 was better than expected.
“It’s been a tough year with everything happening, but in comparison to past years, our numbers this year are pretty similar,” Behymer said. “An event like this, one that people look forward to, is so important for our businesses to make sure they survive.”
