Assessment: Some Kalamazoo downtown businesses face likelihood of closure

An assessment completed by the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership shows the city’s downtown core is certainly not immune from the impacts of COVID-19.

The questionnaire was open to businesses between May 14, 2020 and May 31, 2020. The partnership said 64 businesses participated. Of those, about 31% were in retail, 30% were food and beverage and the remaining participants represented other sectors.

Of the 64 respondents, 42% said they faced a moderate to very high likelihood of having to close their doors for good.
