Do-Dah Parade
- This event has passed.
The “Do-Dah Parade” is Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 11 am. We are 40 years old and it’s time to “roll the dice” on life and play a few board games. This year’s theme is Board-Amazoo. We are super excited to see what all of you will come up with. Don’t you worry, you can still do a parody, but we thought that with our 40th anniversary a little “game playing” might bring back some inspiring memories.
The parade will travel the parade route started last year (Lovell, Rose, Michigan, Portage, back to Lovell), starting at the corner of Jasper and Lovell Street).
Do-Dah Parade started in 1984, when WKMI organizers designed the parade as a way for companies and organizations to provide unique entertainment through a parody. It was patterned after the Pasadena, California Parade called Doo Dah. The purpose remains the same – use a parody to create a laughable and fun parade that will help both businesses and organizations connect with community and celebrate the opportunity to “chuckle.” Although it might be looked at as a challenge, the thing to remember about the parade is that it’s an opportunity to incorporate the laughter of “Saturday Night Live” into the streets of downtown Kalamazoo.
