Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA), Iota Sigma Omega Chapter, proudly announce their Golden Anniversary celebration, marking 50 years of unwavering commitment to sisterhood and dedicated service to the Kalamazoo community. Over the past 50 years, the chapter has awarded thousands of dollars in scholarships to students graduating from our local high schools. Iota Sigma Omega has used their platform to highlight and raise awareness of and seek improvement in health issues for women; instituted programs and initiatives to empower families, build economic wealth and literacy, enhance the environment, advocate for social justice, and uplift our local community.
This momentous occasion will be commemorated with a stimulating evening of recognition, dining, entertainment, and camaraderie.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA), an international service organization, was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1908. It is the oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. The sorority has initiated over 355,000 members and is committed to being of “Service to All Mankind”. The local chapter of Iota Sigma Omega was chartered on October 27, 1973, in Kalamazoo and continues to serve the community today. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated ® has been a cornerstone of sisterhood, scholarship, and service in Kalamazoo for five decades through the local work of Iota Sigma Omega Chapter. Committed to the principles of leadership and community involvement, the chapter has made a lasting impact on the local community through a wide range of initiatives and programs.
