A City Built by People. For People.

Kalamazoo is a gathering place for lovers of nature, craft, and creativity. And downtown reflects this with an eclectic, lively mix of shops, eats, and entertainment. Explore the nooks and crannies of downtown to find hidden treasures like painted alleys lit by strings of lights, tucked-away coffee shops, and rooftop lounges with sunset views.

If you need a break from the bustle of delicious foods and beautiful boutiques, the vibrant parks, trails, and green spaces offer a refreshing breath of nature in the middle of city life.

Whether you’re coming for a short visit or to stay for a while, with so much to discover, Kalamazoo will always serve you up something new.

Make Family Memories

Downtown is full of fun for kids and families to explore. Make your own candle at Kalamazoo Candle Co., then let your curiosity shine at the kid-friendly local history museum and the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Finish off the day with the best of traditional hot dogs from Coney Island or a picnic at Bronson Park.

Celebrate craft culture

Kalamazoo celebrates craft beverages with countless specialty coffee shops and local breweries. Our many distinct coffee shops offer handcrafted drinks in a variety of environments. And if local craft beers are your preference, there’s plenty to discover. Kalamazoo’s Bell’s Brewery, Green Door Distilling Company, and (soon) Saugatuck Brewing Co. are all perfectly positioned for a walking tour.

Stroll through the Social District

Enjoy a drink from one of our many participating bars and restaurants as you stroll through Kalamazoo’s Social District within downtown. From the north there’s Final Gravity all the way to the south there is Harvey’s on the Mall – whatever you prefer, the options are plentiful.  Visit the social district page to see all the places  you can go to enjoy a beverage to go.
