What We're Up To
We are thrilled to re-launch a regular newsletter in 2019 under our new name, Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership! As many of you know, the last year has been pivotal for us as an organization. We want to take a moment to thank our partners in the community, and to highlight some significant achievements below, both for our organization and the Downtown community.
New Name. Our organization re-branded, changing our name to Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership.
New Authority. We worked in partnership with the City of Kalamazoo to create the new Downtown Economic Growth Authority, securing an estimated $66 million of investment for Downtown over 30 years, including $11 million in State funding.
New Leadership. We launched a new leadership network of Citizen Coalitions focused four areas of impact: People, Place, Experience, and Growth. Inaugural meetings were held
New Public Space. We coordinated community partners to activate Bates Alley with parklets, lights, and an incredible street mural by local artist Patrick Hershberger.
New Offices. We moved our offices to the ground floor at 162 E. Michigan Ave. to be more accessible and available to the Downtown community. Everyone is welcome to stop by!
Thank you to all of our partners at the City, local businesses, organizations and community leaders for your support in the last year – we consider all of the above a shared success.
