One of the things that warmed our hearts was seeing how many of you in the community banded together to support downtown businesses. Kalamazoo is saying goodbye to Nature Connection after 20 years of bringing educational gifts and toys to downtown.The store at the bottom of the Epic Center, on the corner of East Lovell and South Burdick streets, will be vacant by the end of the month. The Kalamazoo Nature Center was the storefront’s original tenant in 2000.

Murals painted by artists in Downtown Kalamazoo in June of last year will continue to be displayed downtown, accessible to the community, through an exhibit coordinated by the Black Arts & Cultural Center and at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.

In the early days, frequent shows were "opera, dramas, big bands, ballet, dance reviews, stage shows and movies."

Founded in 2013, Kalamazoo Candle Company hand pours long-lasting, clean-burning, 100% natural soy candles. The company has expanded from having its products at eight stores in 2013 to more than 1,000 independent retail stores at the end of 2020. Kalamazoo Candle Company products can now be found in 35 states.

The Kalamazoo City Commission approved an amendment Monday allowing alcohol sold from a business in the newly created social district to be consumed in Bronson Park.The vote was unanimous, and applies to drinks purchased from licensed businesses in the Central Commons Refreshment Area launched in September.

In just 20 minutes Kalamazoo’s “Twice as Nice” flash sale on Downtown Dollars sold out, said Andrew Haan, President of The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership.The Downtown Dollars initiative has brought in almost $150,000 in the last few months, Haan said. That amount includes customer purchases and the dollar-for-dollar match by Consumers Energy.
