The Kalamazoo City Commission has approved expanding the Central Commons Refreshment Area in the downtown outdoor social district. Commissioners unanimously approved the resolution Monday, according to a news release Friday.

The Kalamazoo City Commission unanimously approved a resolution Monday, November 16 to expand the Central Commons Refreshment Area within downtown Kalamazoo’s outdoor social district. The Central Commons Refreshment Area allows customers to purchase alcoholic beverages from adjacent, licensed establishments and shop, sit outside, or walk around, as long as they remain within the commons area.

=It was announced earlier this year that for the first time ever, the Kalamazoo area was gonna be home to a Buddy's Pizza in Portage, serving up Detroit Style pizza. This is a HUGE favorite to east-siders and quickly found a home on Westnedge Ave. But now Kalamazoo is gonna get a new taste of New York as Benny DiCarta's has finally opened it's doors to the public on 232 E. Michigan Ave. The pandemic kind of put a halt to the pizza shop which led a lot of people wondering if they were ever gonna open.

The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership is pleased to announce the installation of the "Portland Loo," a public outdoor restroom facility, in Downtown Kalamazoo. Located at northwest corner of the City-owned parking lot at 108 E. Water Street, directly behind the KVCC Center for New Media, the restroom will be available for public use 24 hours a day, with multiple cleanings and restocking daily.
