Downtown is known for its walkability and access to public transit – but if you’re commuting by car, we’ve got plenty of parking options.

With more than 400 free 90-minute on-street parking spaces, paid parking garages and lots, Downtown Kalamazoo has a space for you. You’ll also find on-street metered spots throughout the downtown, which range from $1.75/hour to $3/day, and are free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday, Sunday, and holidays.

For regular bicycle commuters, there are several bike lockers downtown that provide enclosed, secure storage for bikes and bike accessories. The Metro Transit station, Amtrak station, and international airport make it easy to come downtown whenever—and however—you need. Kalamazoo International Airport

The Kalamazoo airport (AZO) is only ten minutes south of downtown. Flights from American Airlines, Delta, and United keep you connected to many different destinations.

Train and Metro

Coming in on Amtrak? Kalamazoo’s Amtrak station is right downtown. Hop on a train to access downtown Chicago or Detroit in under 2.5 hours. And to make things even easier, Amtrak and Kalamazoo Metro Transit share the same station.

Bike

Sidewalks and bike routes aren’t the only ways to get outdoors in downtown Kalamazoo. Enjoy a balance of urban landscape and natural beauty with miles of paved trails designed for walking and biking.

From downtown, you can access the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail (KRVT). The KRVT is part of the Great Lake-to-Lake Trail and connects to the Battle Creek Linear Park, Kal-Haven Trail, and Portage Bicentennial Park Trail. The KRVT is currently under construction with 13 miles completed and 22 more underway.

All of the 140 miles of existing and planned trails are built for you to enjoy—free of charge.
