A new report said downtown Kalamazoo welcomed 16 new businesses over the last year.
Two hair salons, two barbershops, a dance studio and a dozen more businesses joined downtown in 2020.
Kalamazoo Downtown Partnerships’ annual report said 95% of businesses reported lost revenue last year and 81% received federal, state or local financial assistance. The president of Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership, Andrew Haan, credited grants and incentives for keeping business afloat during the pandemic.Read more
