It’s a new year – whew, we made it through 2020. But even with the challenges, it wasn’t all bad.
One of the things that warmed our hearts was seeing how many of you in the community banded together to support downtown businesses. You understood that these small businesses don’t have months and months of capital to live on and that they need our help to stay open.
Just through our Gift Card Stimulus and Downtown Dollars program, you injected $250,000+ into downtown businesses. You ordered takeout, dined outside, shopped online stores, and more. You helped businesses to survive.
Now is not the time to stop your support – continue your support in 2021 any way you can. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Spend (and buy) some Downtown Dollars
With more than $180,000 in Downtown Dollars in circulation just from the holiday season alone, now is the perfect time to spend those dollars. Support local by capturing those after-holiday deals from your favorite downtown location with Downtown Dollars (valid at 50+ locations)!
Enjoy a drink in the Central Commons Refreshment Area
Spend a perfect evening in downtown, shopping and strolling outdoors with a tasty alcoholic beverage in your hand (hot and cold options available!)
More than a dozen downtown locations can serve within the boundaries.

Grab a bite to eat at one of downtown’s outdoor patios
Yes, it is winter, but downtown restaurants aren’t letting that stop the dining experience. From heaters to igloos, dining outdoors is a comfortable, safe, and fun experience.
Our team at the Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership is working hard to plan an exciting and safe downtown experience in 2021. Stay tuned on our social media and newsletters for the latest on everything downtown Kalamazoo!
