Kalamazoo Public Library

Selected National Library of the Year for 2002, Kalamazoo Public Library offers an extensive collection, year-round programs for all ages, Reading Together—a community reading program, ONEplace—a management support center for nonprofits, a Local History Room, Law Library, and more.

The library serves a district population of 119,000 through five locations—a Central Library and four neighborhood branches—plus multiple outreach ventures. Many Kalamazoo County residents may use Kalamazoo Public Library through reciprocal agreements with neighboring libraries.

Rainbows flood Central Library on sunny days, refracted by a holographic-collared skylight crowning the 80-foot high rotunda. Visitors especially enjoy the Children’s Room, decorated with murals  and stained glass windows with storybook themes.

Dozens of public computers and wi-fi offer high-speed access to the Internet. The Friends of the Library Bookstore on Central Library's lower level offers gently used books, movies, and music at great prices.
