Headlines of major media outlets from The Wall Street Journal to The Huffington Post boast about the influx of people to cities and urban cores.

Kalamazoo is no exception to this trend. In fact, a recent study recommended that 1,400 additional housing units be built over the next 5 years to meet the rising demand for housing within the City of Kalamazoo. 

On July 29, 2015, Southwest Michigan First held the Living in Kalamazoo: What's the Demand event, a full presentation of this recent housing analysis, along with its partners: Downtown Kalamazoo Inc. (DKI), Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), Local Initiatives Support Coalition (LISC), The Governor's Office of Urban Initiatives and the City of Kalamazoo.
